Although a school board is required to meet in public, the law is very clear that citizens take part in discussions only at times set aside by the board of education for public input.

The Glen Cove Board of Education invites public input at its Regular Board Meeting, held twice a month.  At this meeting, residents may voice opinions, ask questions, or make suggestions on school-related matters.  Provision for public participation is made on the agenda of every Regular Board Meeting.  The time provided for such public participation is at the discretion of the board president.  Statements are limited to three minutes.  Lengthier statements may be given to the board in written form.   Each member of the public has one opportunity to speak.  All speakers will be asked to identify themselves, giving their name and address.
