Welcome to Elementary STEAM!
STEM is now STEAM!
Our STEM course will now be known as STEAM. Many of our units of study and projects have an Art component to them, so we wanted that to be reflected in the name.
What is STEAM?
STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. STEAM education is taught by infusing these disciplines and teaching them as an integrated subject matter rather than in isolation.
STEAM is a class that allows students to engage in many fun and exciting projects.
The 3-5 STEAM program will promote critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. The curriculum aligns with the Next Generation Science standards, 21st Century Skills, and the Common Core Learning Standards.
Students will come to STEAM once per week. Each time students attend STEAM class, they will act like scientists or engineers. This means that they are going to explore the world around them, work cooperatively, think critically, design, build, and solve problems.
Additionally, students will conduct research using iPads to access electronic sources, take notes, and create projects with the information that they have obtained.
We look forward to working with each of you this year!
