The New York State Grade 3, 4 & 5 Language Arts State exams will be administered to students on March 28th, 29th & 30th. The Grade 3, 4 & 5 Math State Exams will be administered on May 2nd, 3rd & 4th. The Connolly teachers have been working with your children to prepare and review for these exams since September. Together they will make sure that our children have the skills, strategies and confidence to do their best. Thank you, parents, for working so diligently with your children to ensure that their homework is completed. You can also help by boosting your child’s confidence by letting him/her know you are proud of his/her continued best efforts and hard work.
A reminder to all parents also that school starts promptly at 8:10 a.m.
Please make sure that your child is here on time. Also, make sure that you use the Comp Lane entrance (in the back of the school) if you pick up or drop off your child by car. The Ridge Drive entrance is for buses only.
We have also had an extremely large number of children being picked up early each day. Unless your child has a doctor’s appointment, religious obligation, a note sent in the morning with change of dismissal plans or there’s a family emergency, they need to be present until the end of the school day. Calling classrooms to remove students is very disruptive to the learning process. Your cooperation in these matters is expected and appreciated!
Please reinforce the following bus rules with your children so that we can ensure their safe arrival at school and an equally safe ride home.
- sit in seats wearing your seat belt
- keep your hands and feet to yourself
- speak in an inside voice
Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place next month. Please look for forms which will be coming home later this month so that you may schedule a conference with your child’s teacher.
